Midweek Makers and Stitching Resolutions

Welcome to Midweek Makers and the 2021 My Stitching Resolution blog hop!

It's a combo post today, as I can't resist a good blog hop! Plus, it's a great follow up post to my 2020 Quilt Review, with more detail of what I want to accomplish this year. So, first we'll visit the Stitching Resolution Blog Hop, hosted by Carla of Creatin' In the Sticks.

I already touched on more block and quilt patterns, which is definitely a year's long commitment. I also plan to participate in RSC2021 (the Jan color is pink), plus blog hops, as I find the themes to be very inspirational.

As for real stitching, there are two UFO's that I would really like to finish this year.
This one, with hexie flowers,

pink hexie flowers

with an unknown setting at this time, and putting these blocks together from the Growing Up quilt-along that was started in 2017.

Last, but not least, I think I'll be selling off some of my stash whenever I can get around to sorting it. Time to freshen up!

So, I think that's enough resolutions to last me awhile. Do take a look to see what these other quilters are resolving to do this year - you may be inspired!

Now for Midweek Makers. Two quilts really caught my eye last week, probably because of the bright colors: this quilt, in-progress, from Songbird Designs,

and this lovely cardinal and his house from Quilting and Learning.

With the busy holiday season, do you have any shares this week?

  • please link directly to your post
  • please link a quilt related project
  • visit and spread some comment love
Have fun!

  5. I like to use the RSC as well for thinning out older stash, but this year I may pull a flimsy that runs the month color and get it finished.

  6. I have done the RSC before and have so much scraps, maybe I should try it again. Thank you for the reminder!

  7. I think most of us have scrap goals or UFO goals

  8. Good luck on the UFOs. RSC is a good way to use up some scraps. Looks like lot of us have UFO issues :-)

  12. Your hexies are so sweet and I'm sure you'll make them into something amazing. I didn't know what the RSC was so I clicked on your link. Looks like a great way to use some of my stash. Thanks for sharing your resolutions and those awesome Midweek Makers projects. Happy New Year!

  13. Where will you sell off your culled stash fabrics, Susan? I am finding that there is so much work in taking pictures, writing up listing descriptions, following up with questions from prospective buyers, shipping quotes, etc., that by the time I'm finished, I wish I'd just donated or tossed whatever it was and had all of that time back again to use more productively. Depending on what the items are and their value, of course. Your hexies look lovely. Happy New Year!

  14. I love the design from Songbird. She is a new to me designer and I am always looking for new machine embroidery patterns. New to me as well is Mid Week Makers. Yeah blog hop for finding new friends and places.

  17. Pretty hexies. Great idea to move some fabrics out of the stash. I know I have some that should find a new home.

  18. Fun goals. I don't have much fabric I don't love, probably because I cut a lot of it up into scraps. I should work more on using up my scraps.

  24. Hi Susan, thanks so much for featuring my Birds in Winter quilt - I made it years ago and it's still one of my favourites! Good luck with your Stitching resolutions. I remember those Growing Up QAL blocks - I still haven't done anything with them either. Take care and Happy New Year!
