Midweek Makers 288

Welcome to Midweek Makers!

Last week, hubby and I concluded a road trip north, with a stop in Portland along the way. We checked out the Columbia River Gorge Discovery Center in The Dalles, OR, just up the road from The Dalles Dam which submerged the Celilo Falls. There were plenty of pictures of the falls in the Discovery Center, so it was nice to put my Celilo quilt in perspective with the landscape.

Then we spent the Fourth of July weekend with friends in Seattle. I was excited to learn that our friend, Nancy Klimp, has published two books,

two books eagle and otter on covers
Explore with Me at the Salish Sea                    Meet Me at the Salish Sea

full of beautiful poetry and original artwork by self-taught artist, Jared Noury. Check out their website, Nature Speaks to Us, to see and read a few samples or order your own copy.

On the way back home, with the heat wave passed, we visited a couple national parks to hike amongst big trees and waterfalls.

And that concludes my road trip, adding 2330 miles to my car. Thank goodness it's a hybrid, averaging 44 mpg for the trip!

Now on to some features from last week, specifically blocks.

From Alycia Quilts, this Flock of Geese block which she shows in different settings,

from Quilting by Dawn, a couple of star blocks,

and from Dreamworthy Quilts, some Feathered Goose blocks.

Now it's your turn to share what you're working on!

  • please link directly to your post not your homepage
  • please link a quilt related item
  • visit with the others and leave some comment love
Have fun!

  5. It sounds like you had a great trip. The books look interesting. That seal really draws in the viewer. We have a hybrid also. We visited a grocery store we hadn't been to in years and surprise, surprise -- there were 2 free charging stations we could plug into while we shopped. Thanks, we think we will. Unfortunately we had a small list so didn't add all that much power. But it was very nice to see it.
