Midweek Makers 291

Welcome to a hot summer Midweek Makers party - so glad you can join us!

Sorry, I have no new quilt projects to share this week though I have plenty of other news to share.

First, congratulations to Gretchen, who won the Seasons of Life quilt book! Thanks to everyone for entering the giveaway - I enjoyed looking at the answers to my questions. An overwhelming number of respondents (15 to 1) have making a BA quilt on their bucket-list; a majority prefer hand applique; and the buttonhole stitch is the favorite for machine applique. Personally, I think the data is a bit skewed to those who like Baltimore Album quilts, but the answers are always fun to look at.

I'd also like to share an upcoming linky party I'm hosting at the end of the month. In honor of National Dog Day on August 26, this party is for all the dog lovers out there! For cat lovers, your day is coming in October.

Just write up a post about the dog in your life, either a real one or one on a quilt, then link up your post. If you are sharing a project, it doesn't have to be new - it can be one from years ago. All I ask is that the post is new and features a dog. Plus, there will be giveaways! Grab the button code on the sidebar to spread the news!

Now on to some applique projects seen last week.

From DonnaleeQ, this adorable floral runner,

and from Chopin a Passionate Quilter, this lovely Thru Grandmothers Window quilt.

It's your turn to share!

  • please link a quilt related item
  • please link directly to your post not your main page
  • visit the others and leave some comment love
Have fun!

  3. Thank you Susan for showing my Thru Grandmother's Window quilt. It has quite the history!
I love needle turn applique (traditional) without glue, piecing, hand quilting, and using my long arm for utility quilts. I am really in awe of your ability to create the quilts you do! Have a great week, I am back to cleaning Room Number 2 in the Studio - almost done! Hugs

  4. Life away from home has been chaos for me lately. Starting to think I better invest in a timer and "forcing" myself to sew and work on crafts at least a set amount of time each day no matter what.
