Welcome to Midweek Makers!

Summer is definitely here - we've had days in the 90's and none of the typical June weather of early morning coastal fog, and I fear those days are a thing of the past. How sad.

As for quilting, I have nothing to share (again, how sad), and instead more yard progress. We rented an excavator to remove a grove of invasive Acacia, and after a week, we're almost done. Here's hubby on day 1, though the majority of those little pesky trees seen in the picture are now gone, I do miss their shade!

Soon we can move onto other stumps and large ivy roots - what a chore! I can't wait for hubby to go back to work so I can take some days off and sew. Until then, let's enjoy what others are showing here at Midweek Makers.

Midweek Makers 337

The calendar tells me yesterday was the summer solstice - so time to get out those summer decorations! Of course, for me, that means all of my red, white and blue runners and quilts. Midweek Makers 336

Welcome to Midweek Makers where it's all about sharing!

I was so hoping to have my pink scrap quilt finished by now but work on the other house has upended that idea. I did find a few hours to work on the border this week, figuring out sizing and quantities. That was important since I don't have much of the background fabric left and bigger pink scraps are skimpy too. So, here's where I'm at.

Oh such slow progress! For someone who used to spend all day creating, sewing, and quilting, this is a crawl. But there's good news on the yard cleanup: the surface ivy roots are almost all gone! This week we're getting an excavator to dig up the big, deep roots, plus some tree stumps. We're getting there!

Now let's see some pretties from last week.

Midweek Makers 335

Welcome to Midweek Makers! It's time for another sharing party!

For me, I had so hoped to get the border on my pink scrap quilt, but too much ivy pulling at the new house prevented that. Instead, I have a client quilt to share, from Paula, a wonderful neighbor at this new place. 

When Paula found out I was a quilter, she promptly had me over to her house to show me not only a few of her quilts, but also quilts that were made by the owner of the house we bought. How serendipitous is that??? More and more we are discovering we were meant to purchase this property - ivy and all!

So now let's get to some shares from last week. Making a Lather has a very cute tiger quilt, with lots of scrappy goodness.

Viridian's blog is happy to have her Winter Solstice top finished.

And Rebecca Grace Quilting showed off two client quilts, one being this one, dubbed PacMan, a modern twist on a Drunkard's Path block.

Seashell for June Quilt Block Mania

By the sea, by the sea, Oh how happy we'll be!

Welcome to QuiltFabrication with another block of the month for Quilt Block Mania! For the month of June, Under the Sea is the theme, with this stunning coral picture as our color palette inspiration.

My Seashell block is simple fusible applique on an hour glass block, which really brings a nice added dimension to the seashell. 

The block features easy piecing and applique requiring a few fat quarters for the background and scraps for the shell. All templates, a placement guide, and detailed instructions are included - suitable for the confident beginner quilter.

The Seashell block has an unfinished size of 12.5" x 12.5", becoming 12" square when sewn into a quilt top. The block pattern is free and available via the download button below.

Midweek Makers 334

Welcome to Midweek Makers! Let's have another week of sharing!

Even though it's a new month, with a new RSC2022 color, I'm still playing with those pink scraps. Here's my current progress - the center is almost done. I am thinking about swapping out that pale pink on the upper left of the heart as it doesn't define the edge very well. And a few more blocks may get shifted around for better effect.

But I am keeping with the on-point four black square and four pink square placements within the top design. To finish it off, I'm thinking a piano key border. If I'm lucky, I'll have that done by next week.
