It's another month and another theme for Quilt Block Mania! This time, it's barn blocks!
I chose to make a Barn to anchor all the quilt blocks that hang on barns. To me, a red barn with big sliding crosshatched doors, a typical gambrel roof style, and topped with a weathervane is what I envision when someone says barn. Feel free to swap out the upper window and insert your favorite quilt block!
There's quite the wide variety of quilt blocks this month, all from very talented designers, just to decorate barns.

My Barn block involves paper piecing, and is geared toward the Intermediate quilter familiar with paper piecing techniques. There are some areas where paper piecing is really not necessary, but because of angles and detail placement within the block, some easy pieces like strips and rectangles ended up being odd sizes. So instead of gearing the pattern to make standard sized pieces, I opted for paper piecing to accommodate those odd sizes, which gives me the barn I want.
Fat quarters and scraps, in 6 colors, are all that's needed to make one finished 12" x 12" block. All the paper piecing templates are ready to go - print them out and follow the lettering sequence for each section. After stitching sections together, I recommend pressing the seams open.
The Barn block is free until January 2,2023.

That’s very cute. Love the snowy look to the barn.
