The Quilt Block Mania theme this month is 'mountains' and I've created a beautiful scene of snow-capped mountains surrounding a tranquil lake in my Purple Mountains Majesty quilt block.
It fits right in with all the other mountain themed blocks, making for a terrific mountain themed quilt. Or pick and choose and make your own nature themed quilt!
Here's the list of the other mountain designers - be sure to thank them for their generosity!

I like to use different piecing techniques to achieve the look I want for the QBM quilt blocks. Though I try to stick to designing the block for easy assembly, Purple Mountains Majesty is best suited for the Intermediate Quilter.
The technique used for construction is Template Freezer Paper Piecing, for which I have a tutorial walking quilters through the process. It's not traditional paper piecing, but a cousin, which makes stitching this block possible. It really is a simple process once you get the hang of it - I had no issues putting Purple Mountains Majesty together using the technique.
The Purple Mountains Majesty block pattern includes printing instructions for both a 12" and a 10" finished block. You'll need to print the pattern template on the dull side of freezer paper, either cutting your own or using precut sheets like these from the Gypsy Quilter (affiliate link).
Purple Mountains Majesty is free until July 1, 2024. Just click on the download button below for the PDF pattern file.
In downloading the pattern, you agree not to share the file with others, but direct them to the QuiltFabrication.com/Purple Mountains Majesty post - thank you!
Happy Quilting!
